(And, no, I don't count rambling FB messages from company representatives as official statements. Especially when those statements contain vulgar suggestions that those editors and artists who haven't been paid and authors who are waiting for royalty statements and payments go perform sex acts. And, yes, I have screenshots. )
Last week, after the Dear Author story broke, the COO and Managing Editor resigned. EC is operating on a skeleton staff of 2 or 3 editors, one cover artist and minimal office support. Several authors have received notices informing them that EC intends to publish their manuscripts with little or no (!) author input on edits.
This situation is intensely sad for me. I utterly adore the Grabbed series and the world I built for Vicious, Menace, Venom, Raze, Cipher, Terror, Torment, Orion, Zeph, Hazard, etc. After a long hard cry and a talk with the Viking and my lawyer, I have decided to put these books on hold. For a number of reasons, both financial and personal, I do not feel comfortable submitting the books.
I so wish I had better news to update. I am sitting here crying at my keyboard as I type this--but it had to be done. :/
